Yes. A solar-compatible smart charger with a CT clamp can detect surplus solar export and automatically divert it to charge your car instead. On a sunny day in summer, this means completely free charging. It works best on a 3.5kWp+ solar system and is compatible with most modern EVs.
Very little. We handle everything from the assessment through to certification. You'll need to ensure clear access to the area where the charger will be installed and to your consumer unit. We'll confirm everything needed when we book the installation date.
Most installations are completed in 3–4 hours by a single engineer. Complex cable runs in older properties can occasionally take longer — we'll flag this before booking. You'll receive your Part P building regulations certificate on the day.
No — home EV charger installation is permitted development in the UK and does not require planning permission in most cases. Listed buildings and conservation areas may have restrictions. We'll let you know if your property is affected during the site assessment.
