Why they got in touch
A homeowner in Maidford had engaged another contractor who was unable to finish the job. The system was part-installed and not working as it should.
What we recommended and why
We did not start by quoting for work. We started with a PV Condition and Rectification Report — a written survey setting out what had been installed, what was wrong with it and what needed doing. On a part-finished job by someone else, that is the only honest basis for a price: you cannot sensibly quote to fix what nobody has catalogued.
The customer then asked us to carry out every recommendation in the report.
The install
The work covered DC cabling, a new single-phase meter and a replacement meter box, along with the outstanding items from the report. There was also Feed-in Tariff and energy supplier paperwork to untangle, which does not show up in any photograph but takes as long as the physical work.
Two site days, on 10 and 20 August. The customer had fitted their own canopies over the array.
The result
A working, properly certified system, and the paperwork straightened out.
