Solar Panel Installation in Bedford

MCS and NAPIT certified. Fixed price in writing after a real roof survey.
What we find on Bedford roofs
Victorian terraces
The stock around Queens Park, Castle Road and the town centre is largely Victorian terrace — natural slate, steep pitch, and a roof width that usually caps the array before your budget does. Slate needs different fixings from concrete tile and is unforgiving of anyone walking it, so we scaffold properly rather than working off a ladder.
Interwar and post-war semis
The 1930s semis and the post-war estates are the easiest ground in Bedford. Concrete tile, generous unbroken slopes, and typically a one-day install. The thing to check is the consumer unit, which on this stock is often the limiting factor rather than the roof.
Great Denham, Wixams and Biddenham
The newer estates west and south of town are modern construction with steeper pitches. Some already carry a developer array, usually undersized and rarely with storage. Worth knowing what you have before assuming it is sorted.
The parts that change the price
Roof orientation, not postcode
Bedford sits close enough to Milton Keynes that the annual yield figures are effectively identical. What actually changes your output is which way the roof faces and what shades it — which is why we measure rather than estimate from an address.
Scaffolding access
Terraced streets in central Bedford can be tight for scaffold, and that shows up in the price. We would rather tell you at survey than add it later.
Grid connection
Every installation has to be notified to the network operator. MK, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire sit near a distribution boundary, so which operator applies depends on your postcode — we check it and handle the paperwork either way.
Working in Bedford from Milton Keynes
We are based in Bletchley, roughly 20 minutes from Bedford on the A421. That matters less for the install than for what comes after: if something needs looking at in year three, we can be there the same week rather than subcontracting it.
The largest system we have fitted in Bedford is 8kWp of solar with a 13.5kWh Powerwall, saving around £2,100 a year and running close to off-grid through the summer. A few more are on the recent installs page.
Bedford is comfortably inside the area we work in every week. If you are further out than Bedford, ask anyway — we travel for the right job.
