What we find on High Wycombe roofs
Terraces on the valley sides
High Wycombe sits in the Wye valley, and many of its terraced streets climb the slopes. Steep streets make scaffolding the main cost question, and on the lower slopes the hillside itself can shade a roof in winter.
Interwar and post-war semis
The semis in the suburbs up the valley sides are usually the straightforward ground: concrete tile, unbroken slopes and typically a one-day install. On this stock the consumer unit is often the thing that needs attention, not the roof.
The Chilterns villages
Much of the surrounding countryside is in the Chilterns National Landscape. Roof panels are usually still permitted development there, but wall-mounted panels facing the road are not, and listed buildings and Article 4 areas need consent. We check before we quote.
The parts that change the price
Shading from the hills
In a valley, a roof that looks clear in summer can lose low winter sun behind the opposite slope or the house uphill. We assess shading as part of the MCS performance estimate, so the figure you are quoted allows for it.
Scaffolding on steep streets
Sloping streets and pavement scaffolds change the price. We would rather tell you at survey than add it later.
Grid connection
High Wycombe is on SSEN's network (Southern Electric Power Distribution). Larger inverters and batteries need G99 approval before they can be switched on. We make the application and handle the paperwork.

We notify your network operator, or apply for G99 approval first on larger systems, which can take a few weeks.
5. Installation
Most homes take one or two days, with scaffold up for the roof work.
6. Handover
We set up the app with you and leave the MCS certificate you need to be paid for exporting.
