Pictured: our install in Milton Keynes
“Called Depth of Light because I was having trouble with my electricity tripping when solar panels kicked in each morning. Matt came round within a few days and spoke with Solis. Between them the fault was identified and Matt came and fitted a new RCD. Fast, professional, friendly service. Would recommend.”
“Matt did an amazing job replacing our old fuse box! He was super clean, kept us informed every step of the way, and did a really professional job. We’ve used him for various other work since and we’ll definitely keep using his services again.”

What we find on Luton roofs
Victorian and Edwardian terraces
The streets around High Town and Bury Park are largely terraced: long, narrow roofs, often with a rear outrigger. Roof width usually limits the array before your budget does, and access for scaffold on a terraced street is part of the price.
Interwar and post-war semis
Much of Luton is semi-detached housing from the 1930s to the 1960s. Concrete tile, generous unbroken slopes and typically a one-day install. On this stock the consumer unit is often the thing that needs attention, not the roof.
Marsh Farm, Lewsey Farm and the newer estates
The post-war and later estates have a mix of terraces and semis with shallower pitches. Shallower roofs still work well; they simply change the yield per panel, which is why we measure rather than estimate.
The parts that change the price
Roof orientation, not postcode
What changes your output is which way the roof faces and what shades it. A terrace with a south-facing rear roof can out-generate a bigger house facing the wrong way.
Scaffolding access
Terraced streets can be tight for scaffold, and sometimes it has to stand on the pavement under a licence. We tell you at survey rather than add it later.
Grid connection
Luton is on UK Power Networks' Eastern network. Most home systems are notified after installation; larger inverters and batteries need G99 approval first. We make the application and handle the paperwork.
Working in Luton from Milton Keynes
We are based in Bletchley, about 40 minutes from Luton. That matters less for the install than for what comes after: if something needs looking at, we come out ourselves rather than subcontract it.
We have not finished a job in Luton itself yet, so we won't pretend otherwise. The nearest systems we can show you are in Woburn Sands and Milton Keynes, below, and every one has a full write-up.
Luton is well inside the area we cover.
Solar Panels in Luton — FAQ
From £5,600 for a 3.72kWp system and £5,900 for a 5.58kWp system on a straightforward roof, at 0% VAT until 31 March 2027. Terraced streets can cost more because of scaffolding access, which we price at survey rather than adding later.
Yes. It is about 40 minutes from our Bletchley base. We have not finished a Luton job yet; our nearest are in Woburn Sands and Milton Keynes, and you can read about each one.
Usually yes. The limits are roof width and orientation rather than anything fundamental. A narrow terrace roof caps the array size, so the honest answer on system size comes from measuring the roof, not from the number of bedrooms.
How it works
1. We call you back
Usually the same working day, to talk through what you want and book a survey.
2. Roof survey
About 40 minutes at your home. We measure the roof, check the consumer unit and look at where a battery could go.
3. A fixed price in writing
With an MCS performance estimate of what the system should generate. Nothing is added later.
4. Grid notification
We notify your network operator, or apply for G99 approval first on larger systems, which can take a few weeks.
5. Installation
Most homes take one or two days, with scaffold up for the roof work.
6. Handover
We set up the app with you and leave the MCS certificate you need to be paid for exporting.
